While each coaching engagement is unique; there are generally five phases within the project. Each phase mirrors the desired outcomes, learning preferences and development needs of the client.
Client and coach crystallize the scope and focus for the work including defining measures of success and who needs to be involved throughout the project.
Client and coach use a variety of tools to gain data about current impact and results and link these to targeted developmental opportunities. Tools might include assessments such as the EQ 2.0 emotional intelligence instrument, MBTI personality type indicator, self observation and reflection and structured feedback processes. This enables clients to zero in on their goals.
Client and coach design specific learning arenas in which the client experiments with desired skill areas, tracking the impact of their success and learning. Conversations during this phase include exploring what is working well and the impact the client is having, clarifying what is not working and designing strategies to overcome obstacles.
Client distills learning and defines a set of practices which support sustained change.
Client and coach declare completion when goals are achieved and a plan is in place to support future success.
